Can I do the program in less than 4 years?

No. Our program is designed to fully equip an individual with the skills they need to practice classical homeopathy. Classical homeopathy is a deep and complex profession and requires time and experience to properly absorb and integrate the material. Our program is one of the most comprehensive homeopathic training programs in North America, therefore we have given much thought in how to design our program to produce the most highly qualified individuals, ready to step into professional practice.

Can I get credit for other homeopathic courses I’ve taken?

Because programs vary, we have a placement exam to help determine where you would fit within our program and if you can place out of part of the program.  As an ACHENA accredited school, you must complete all aspects required in the ACHENA standards - either through Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy or commensurate program in order to receive a diploma from NAH.

Do I need a degree or prior medical training?

Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy accepts motivated and talented students from diverse backgrounds; previous training in a health care field is not mandatory. It is highly recommended that prospective students have completed at least two years of accredited post-secondary education before entering this Professional Training Program.  Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.

Do you provide financial aid?

The school is a private non-profit institution so we do not have financial aid. We strive to keep our tuition as affordable as possible to help students achieve their academic and professional goals. Also, all fully-registered students are eligible to apply annually for a generous portion of our scholarship funds. We also offer monthly payment plans.

How does the distance learning program work?

For over twenty-eight years, NAH has been preparing homeopaths in an in-person learning environment. With advances in technology, we began offering our successful program to people around the globe many years ago alongside those who live in or travel to Minnesota each month for in-person learning. We are experts at fully hybrid, live (synchronous) learning environments.

This is not a self-paced or pre-recorded program. All classes and clinics are held live during once-a-month, three-day weekend sessions with distance and in-person students learning together in a hybrid (online and live) environment. A vital part of the program at NAH is the in-depth, hands-on clinical training in years three and four - even this student clinic is hybrid! Students, clients and faculty supervisors come together to care for and manage client from around the globe.

While we invite distance students to be present in our physical classroom location whenever possible, it is not required. Similarly, our local students may stay home whenever it better suits the demands of life. We are here for you - either way, virtually or in-person - with hybrid, fully synchronous learning throughout all four years. The only exception to this is that outside of the three-day weekend sessions described above, all students participate at a distance during webinar sessions or study groups that occur one-to-two times a month in between our live, hybrid weekend sessions.

How much time will I need to devote to studying?

While this varies per individual, on average students have found that 10-15 hours per week are needed outside of class and webinar time.

What are the costs for books?

Seventy-five percent of the book costs are incurred for the first year. You may purchase these books through a supplier for a discount for approximately $250-$300. You may also purchased used copies of these books for even less through resellers on Amazon. All the books purchased for the program are used throughout the four years and are valuable resources while practicing.

What are the technology requirements for a student?

Students will need access to a computer with a webcam and access to an internet connection fast enough to stream video.  Schedules, handouts, and homework are shared via a learning management system. Audio recordings of classes are  available on a shared internet location. Students may also need access to a printer from time to time.

What kind of certification is required to practice Homeopathy in Minnesota or other states?

Currently, the practice of homeopathy does not require certification in Minnesota. However, NAH graduates are encouraged to pursue homeopathic certification through the Council for Homeopathic Certification. This certification is widely recognized in the United States as a designation for well-trained classical homeopathic practitioners. For more information on the certification process, you can visit the CHC website at http://www.homeopathicdirectory.com. Graduates of Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy have met all the requirements necessary to sit for the CHC certification exam.

Since 2000, there has been legislation in place in Minnesota that supports the practice of homeopathy by unlicensed practitioners. For information on states other than Minnesota, visit http://www.nationalhealthfreedom.org.
